Celeste Epiphany Waite was born in Culver City, California to parents of British and Jamaican heritage. Her family moved to London when she was three years older and settled near Brighton when she was a teen.
Influenced by legendary artists like Aretha Franklin and Ella Fitzgerald, Celeste got her start in music in 2014 providing vocals on tracks for electronic producers like Avicii. The singer-songwriter has released a pair of EPs – The Milk & The Honey in 2017 and Lately in 2019 – spawning popular tracks like Strange and Father’s Son. In December 2019, she headlined a sold-out run of shows at London’s Omeara.
The following year saw Celeste not only win BBC Music's Sound Of 2020 but also score the Rising Star award at the BRITs. In addition to captivating tracks such as Stop This Flame, I Can See The Change and Little Runaway, she co-wrote Hear My Voice with Golden Globe-nominated composer Daniel Pemberton, which was featured on Aaron Sorkin’s film The Trial Of The Chicago 7.
Capping off 2020, Celeste wrote and recorded the heartwarming original song A Little Love lauding small acts of kindness for John Lewis’ annual Christmas campaign. It entered the UK’s Top 40 a week after its release.
At the end of January 2021, Celeste's debut album Not Your Muse arrived. To support it, she confirmed a string of five shows at London’s Union Chapel for July 2021 along with a seven-city UK tour for spring 2022.
