By using abstract approaches to drawing, mark making and collage, you will create a collection of work which can be used as a basis for your lampshade design. You will be introduced to the screen printing process, and experiment with different inks and processes before working on a final design. After producing a finished print you will be guided through the construction process, and leave the course with a beautiful, bespoke lampshade for display in your home.
All the equipment for the course will be provided, including the lampshade kit, screen, squeegee, inks, and basic drawing materials. We recommend that you bring extra drawing materials such as pens, paints and crayons if you have them. You will need a hairdryer and an iron for setting the fabric.
The ticket price includes a £30 materials deposit to cover the loan of some pieces of equipment for the duration of the course, such as the screen and squeegee. After returning these at the end of the course you will be refunded the cost of the deposit.
As this course takes place online you will need access to a computer, laptop or mobile device with an internet connection. You will need a table top or surface to print on, and access to a sink, shower or hose to wash your screen in between sessions.
This course is open to all abilities - no prior screen printing knowledge or drawing skill is required. Although this course is online it is primarily aimed at residents of Glasgow.
