What will happen during the course?
You will be encouraged to build a textiles development sketchbook in order to effectively document learning processes and design development. You will be shown how to prepare a small portfolio of fabric samples as well as how to effectively transform your ideas into print. You will also have the opportunity to experiment with specialist techniques and binders such as foiling, metallic and puff, to really maximise the various potentials of textile screen printing.
What experience do I need?
This course is perfect for anyone who has completed our six week Beginner’s Course, members of the studio or those with recent experience. Beginner’s Course alumni & Print Clan members are eligible for a £25 discount off their booking.
Equipment Provided:
Equipment and materials such as screens, squeegees, a range of ink colours, specialist binders, chemicals, paper, pens, cutting mats and knives are all included, as well as a sketchbook. Fabric is not provided so you are required to bring fabric for printing along with you - natural fabrics such as a plain cotton or linen give the best results. You can also bring along merchandise to print onto such as totes and cushion covers.
Your Tutor:
Arianna is a practising Fashion and Textile designer and co-founder of Print Clan. She completed a BA in Fashion & Printed Textiles at Middlesex University, before being granted a scholarship to study an MA in Fashion Design Technology at London College of Fashion. She has spent the last 10 years specialising in printmaking for fashion. Arianna is also part of a fashion collective based in London called Congregation Design, a group of designers aiming to influence the fashion industry to become more environmentally and socially conscious. With her industry standard expertise in the technical aspects of textile printing she aims to support Print Clan members to achieve the best possible results.
