Illuminations: bringing art and light to Argyll and Bute

About Illuminations: bringing art and light to Argyll and Bute

Each site will be spectacularly lit by projections featuring artwork that explores the legacy of Colmcille.

Illuminations will highlight the outcomes of the Duais Dìleab Chaluim Chille / The Colmcille Legacy Award Scheme and will feature the work of the recipients. This award scheme aims to amplify the legacy of Colmcille/St Columba and promote the Gaelic languages of Ireland and Scotland by helping the growth and development of Gaelic artists.

Illuminations projections will take place over five locations in Argyll and Bute coinciding with other Colmcille 1500 artists in Ireland, who are holding events on the evening of 7 December 2021.

Projection events showing images of will be carried out at the following locations:

Helensburgh - Hermitage Park
Oban - McCaig’s Tower
Dunoon - The Queens Hall
Ardrishaig - near the Egg Shed (Scottish Canals)
Isle of Bute - the Royal Hotel

In partnership with Bòrd na Gàidhlig and Argyll and Bute Council.

CHARTS hope that everyone will be able to enjoy the projections safely: photos and videos will be available from their social media accounts and website.
