The universality of pop music can mean different things to different people. For Albertine Sarges – Berlin-born musician and producer – it’s a vessel that she uses for self-exploration and growth, never more so than on her album The Sticky Fingers (out in 2021 via Moshi Moshi Records).
Approaching her take on feminist theory, musings on bisexuality, and mental health, AS musical endeavors move from Viv Albertine-inspired post-punk and kaleidoscopic dream-pop to quiet-loud guitar squall and Tune-Yards reminiscent vocal acrobatics. While AS maintains a sense of comedy in her approach, her music is also a platform to explore the self and contribute to the broader societal discourse.
On stage, AS and her band take the audience through a surprising journey with twists and turns, displaying an insatiable mix of avant-garde pop, weird folk, magical flute, and impeccably groovy bass.
