The evening will kick off with a presentation by Microdot founder and creator of record sleeve artwork for everything released by Oasis and The Verve in the 1990s, Brian Cannon. Brian will outline the remarkable but true story how, with no contacts, no experience and an investment of £7.58 (on a ruler, a tin of glue and a scalpel), he established Microdot who within four years went on to become the most sought after music related design team in the world. The accreditation ‘A Microdot Design’ adorned over 70 million units of product by the end of the 90s alone. He will tell tales of how this incredible feat was achieved and reveal insights into how all the iconic artwork was created.
The presentation will be accompanied by visuals – a section of the world famous Microdot Boutique will be recreated on Tuts iconic stage providing a spectacular backdrop for the event.
After a break following Brian’s presentation, a Q & A session will take place, hosted by Erskine’s legendary music memorabilia collector Raymond Borland. Raymond will pose questions then encourage audience participation welcoming questions for Brian so everyone can get involved.
The event will be unusual for the venue in that it will be all seated. This change to the arrangements will mean capacity is reduced to just 75 tickets bringing an intimate feel to the event. It is commonplace these days for Q & A events to charge a premium for ‘Meet & Greet’ tickets – this is Microdot, no such surcharge will be levied, all attendees are guaranteed an opportunity to personally chat with Brian, take photos and have items signed. After the Q & A, the Microdot Boutique set up onstage will be transformed into a merch stall ‘Pop Up Shop’ with a wide selection of prints and framed originals from the Microdot HQ for sale.
A splendid time is guaranteed for all.
Tickets go on sale at 10.00 am on Friday the 4th of March via the King Tuts website: www.kingtuts.co.uk
