After 9 years of powerhouse parties under the bridge at West Street, 2022 marks “The Final Stop” for Glasgow’s Platform 18 Festival. After almost a decade of open-air raves boasting Dance Music royalty every single time with the likes of Derrick Carter, Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin, Carl Craig, Amelie Lens, to name but a few, festival curator Ivan Kutz has decided to call time on the sound of the underground.
To mark the end of an era the industry-renowned summertime Street Festival will return to Glasgow's West Street this September Weekend for not one, but two open-air raves on the Southside of the River Clyde. Resident and curator Ivan Kutz, has pulled out all the stops for the last dance.
As always Mental health will be at the heart of the event. Ivan has been supporting the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) since 2013, in memory of his close friend and, said: 'The SAMH charity is very close to my heart since losing a close friend to suicide... This spurred me on to set up the street party and build it all around mental health awareness.'
Well over £5,000 has already been generated for the charity and festival organisers further explained: 'We looked into this and found an effective way to connect with 18-25-year-olds is through the power of electronic music with over 10,000 attending the events over the years.
Ahead of the Final Stop, Ivan confirmed: “It's with a heavy heart that I will be hanging up the headphones down at West Street this year, it's been such an extraordinary 9 years which has given me the opportunity to build a unique electronic party and book my favourite DJ's along the way. The whole experience has shaped me into the man I am today and I can't recommend enough to any young expiring promoters out there to just go for it, anything is possible if you have the vision and passion!
I'd like to thank everyone that has supported Platform 18 over the years, from the sound technicians, In-house security, bar staff, media, No Mean City PR, sponsors, Glasgow City Council, SAMH, my wonderful wife Emily, Niz, Bruce, friends & family and of course all the ravers!”
