"This book is an inspiration, a reminder of the extraordinary courage of Children of Alcoholics"
In 1978, John Taylor is eight-years-old and in love with life. At school, he is top of his class and adored buy all the teachers. On the football pitch, he exhibits skills way beyond his years and, better still, his beloved Arsenal have just reached the FA cup final.
Everything is great for John until the day he comes home from school and sees his alcoholic mother lying in bed after being beaten to a pulp by his violent father.
John Taylor is launching his debut book in Scotland, where he lived during the early years of his life. John hopes his book will raise awareness of the impact of growing up in an alcoholic home.
Scottish families affected by Alcohol and Drugs (SFAD), with the support of Waterstones, are proud to host the event as a part of our Bound Together project.
Bound Together aims to raise awareness of family recovery through sharing books and speaking with authors that tackle the impact of harmful alcohol and drug use in families.
At the event, John will read from his book, discuss its' key themes with Richard Watson (SFAD), and take questions from the audience.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
