Glasgow Zine Fest: (In)justice, Credibility, Knowledge and Zines: A Reflective Collaborative Zine Making Session

In this workshop, led by zine researcher Tamsin Walker, we will draw on Miranda Fricker's ideas of epistemic injustice (2007) to reflect on what zines (can) do and how they (can) do this.

Who is seen as credible? Whose experiences can best be understood through using widely available language and ideas? Who has space in which they can make sense of their experiences? Who has opportunities to contribute to the shared pool of knowledge?

We will think about how much credibility you and others attribute to the zines you read, if the knowledge you share as a zinester is valued and trusted by readers, whether you gain understanding through reading zines, and whether you create and share knowledge in, through, or between zines.

We aim to create a collaborative zine during the session capturing our ideas, which will be distributed afterwards.
