Thursday 18 August 2022 from 7.30pm until 10pm we're hosting a ceilidh in The Venue at 51 Richmond Street! (doors open 7pm)
Live music from the amazing Glasgow University Trad Group!
There will also be a raffle drawn during the evening- prizes TBC...
£3 entry per person- you can purchase this in advance on the event webpage or at the door (with cash or card)
£2 for a strip of raffle tickets (5 raffle tickets)- these will only be available on the night
Every penny will go to Strath Mary's Meals- we have a sponsored school in Malawi for which we fundraise to feed every pupil for the year. We are coming to the end of this year's goal & we only have £350 to go! It costs only £15.90 to feed a child in their place of education for a whole year.
This event is perfect for students who are missing the term-time social life or for anyone who is need of a good dance! *you must be age 18+ to enter the premises, unless you are a Strathclyde student*
What is a ceilidh? (for our international friends)
Ceilidh is Scots Gaelic for party! & that is exactly what it is: a ceilidh (kay-lee) is a traditional Scottish dance. Most dances are with a partner but others are in groups. A ceilidh is a great way to meet new people & it is always a laugh. You don't need to worry if you don't know how to do the dances- our awesome band will be there to give you instructions. Come along & give it a go- you won't regret it!
If you have any questions or if we can do anything to make you feel more comfortable/make the event accessible, just get in-touch at strathmarysmeals@gmail.com xoxo
We can't wait to see you!
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
