We are delighted to welcome Alex Ferrand of Lochlea Distillery for an in-store tasting of the Lochlea range of whiskies. It's the ideal time to pick up a Christmas gift for your whisky lover friends and family!
This year saw the release of Lochlea's new core range of Single Estate bottlings. This range expands on what they learned from the concluded Seasonal Releases, refined with fresh cask choices, more complex recipes, and an elevated presentation. Each expression is crafted from their own barley, distilled and matured entirely on-site in the heart of Ayrshire.
Lochlea started life as a cattle farm, but in 2015 the team of Lochlea Distillery embarked on an experiment, growing 50 acres of malting barley and slowly gaining the experience to develop and operate a single malt distillery in 2018. Since then, they have been growing the barley on-site, and the distillery team have been skillfully and patiently making spirit.
The land at Lochlea is important, and not just for the distinctive taste of their whisky. This was the land that Robert Burns tended when he lived at Lochlea Farm, inspiring his thinking and development as a poet.
