Welcome, all ye future Chickens! Come and join us for a game of Touch Rugby. It is fun, fast and fortunately not prone to many injuries.
Perhaps the best way to describe Touch Rugby, is that it is similar to Rugby League, but without the kicking, tackling and all things painful. It is a sport that is suitable for all ages. Both men and women can play together.
Our club (The Glasgow Chickens) is welcoming and inclusive. Our age range is broad, as is our ability. We go from absolute beginners to members who have been or are currently selected to play, nationally. Some of our members play casually, enjoying the Sunday and/or Tuesday training, while many train regularly in preparation for League and other tournaments. For League, we submit our mixed team (The Chickens), our ladies' team (The Hems) and our men's team (The Cocks).
Our training sessions are 1.5 hours long and always conclude with a game. While our sessions improve fitness and enhance skills, we always have a laugh and a group of us usually end the session with a quick drink or a coffee. There are other Chickens' social events that occur throughout the year.
No matter what your skill or fitness level is, you are welcome. Come and join us at Glasgow Green (Sunday 11 a.m.) or in Stepps (Tuesday 6.30pm). We're a right mixed bunch so you're bound to fit in!
