Gladstone's Bag presents the 1925 Japanese silent classic Orochi, with live music featuring traditional Japanese instruments—including the shakuhachi, bamboo flute, and shamisen with a live Benshi (narrator) performance.
The story of a decent samurai who is widely considered a scum and a criminal. His bad luck and numerous misunderstandings drag him down the social ladder straight to the gutter. It combines a grim vision of a society rendered dysfunctional by feudalism, a portrait of one man’s existential crisis and yes, some fast and very furious sword-fighting action!
