In 2022, Historic Environment Scotland conducted an extensive public consultation to determine if the building deserved a heritage listing. Instead, three-quarters of respondents wanted it demolished. However, a small but vocal group of residents, architects, and academics continue to stand in opposition, advocating for preservation rather than destruction.
Hear from the award-winning trio as they recall their 18-month research project, which culminated in this limited-edition art book. Given exclusive behind-the-scenes access to Cumbernauld New Town’s iconic Town Centre, they spent time interviewing residents, past and present, collecting stories associated with the famous building, exploring various perspectives, and asking: Should the Town Centre be saved, or demolished?
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
