Following its debut at the Merchant City Festival this summer ‘The Listener’ will be available again during September this month, and also throughout the weekend of the doors open day in Glasgow, running from 18th - 21st September.
Glasgow’s grand architecture and bustling streets tell a powerful story – but not all of it is visible at first glance. This walking tour through the heart of the city’s Merchant City offers a deeper look into Glasgow’s complex and often overlooked relationship with the transatlantic slave trade and the wealth it produced.
‘The Listener’ is a specially commissioned audio tour that explores Glasgow's historical ties to that slave trade. The guide, produced by theAfrowegian, is available exclusively on the Trailify app. Just download Trailify for free to open the ‘The Listener’ audio guide automatically using the booking link or QR Code.
There is no sign up or login required, and the app does not contain any ads, in-app purchases or other restrictions. It is the same link for Android or iPhone devices.
The walking tour should take around 30 minutes. The immersive audio content of the tour will require you to bring a fully charged mobile phone, headphones and an internet connection.
Please wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather.
