This spring, Takuya Nakamura brings his latest release Pleasure Seekers to the UK for the first time, performing the music live alongside NYC electronic drummer Currency Audio. Rooted in the rhythmic language of jungle, juke, and footwork, Pleasure Seekers translates Nakamura's studio work into a high-energy live performance.
Born in Tokyo and based in New York, Takuya Nakamura is a trumpeter, composer and producer whose sound flows between jazz, jungle and electronic music. A former student of legendary jazz theorist and composer George Russell, he became a fixture of NYC's underground in the 90s, performing with Jojo Mayer's Nerve and CocoRosie, and collaborating with icons like Quincy Jones and David Byrne. His iconic freewheeling sets on Lot Radio NYC are drenched in astounded comments. Blending deep jazz roots with cutting-edge production, Nakamura continues to push boundaries as one of contemporary music's true innovators.
