Your family's mission to explore the wonders of space!
Discover our top cosmic things to do this half term, all guaranteed to send you rocketing towards a universe of hands-on fun.

**Please note: our workshops are sign-up and run on a first come, first served basis. We recommend arriving early for the best chance to secure a spot**
Workshops & Activities
'Balloon Rockets' (Floor 1 - most suitable for under 8s)
What would you send to space? Discover the forces behind rocket launches as you launch your own balloon rockets into orbit!
'Super Satellites' (Floor 1 - most suitable for 8 and over)
Build and pilot your own satellite whilst discovering how technology helps us to better understand the forests on our planet: how forest cover has changed over time and what it means for our future.
'Space Junk' (Floor 2 - most suitable for 8 and over)
Code a model satellite's path through orbit, dodging debris and other satellites as you navigate the hazards of space.
'Marshmallow Bell Jar' – (Floor 3 Live Lab – suitable for all ages)
This live demo demonstrates how spacesuits protect astronauts from the vacuum of space – using marshmallows and a bell jar.
'Meet the Expert - The Search for Earth 2.0 Using Lasers' – (Floor 2 – suitable for all ages)
On Saturday 14 - Monday 16 February, join Heriot-Watt University for this expert workshop session.
'Meet the Expert - Ocean Sciences Event' – (Floor 1 – suitable for all ages)
Get involved in this expert workshop session on Saturday 21 February
'Space Trail' - (Across the Science Mall – suitable for all ages)
Follow a galactic trail across the centre, crack the cosmic puzzle, and uncover stellar surprises along the way!

Blast through three floors bursting with interactive exhibits – press, pull, spin, bash and experiment your way through a universe of science!
Science Show Theatre
Experience Newton's three laws of motion in 'Fantastic Forces' using balloons, rockets, a bed of nails, and other amazing demonstrations.

Spring Wonders of the Night Sky
Join us in the Planetarium to discover the delights of the truly dark nights, where you can wonder at the winter constellations before being whisked away on a trip to the solar system and beyond.
Space Explorers
Explore the night sky and take a trip to the Moon before flying through the solar system to see a planet up close.
The Great Solar System Adventure
Join our showman extraordinaire on a death-defying journey to the planets. Explore the wonders and perils of our Solar System in this breathtaking immersive adventure.

Deep Sky 2D (most suitable for 8 and over / available 14-20 February)
This mini-blockbuster brings the awe-inspiring images captured by NASA's Webb Telescope to IMAX - taking audiences on a journey to the beginning of time and space, to never-before-seen cosmic landscapes, and to recently discovered exoplanets.
Ocean Odyssey 3D
Jump in the flow of an ocean current with a baby humpback whale for a giant screen adventure in this IMAX mini-blockbuster to reveal how the ocean shapes our lives.
Eating & Drinking
When your fuel levels dip, refuel with light bites, sandwiches, cakes and more in our café or the IMAX coffee shop. Perfect for powering your next cosmic discovery.
