Following our hugely successful 2018 Jazz Festival show in Saint Luke’s, which paid tribute to New York’s seminal Salsoul Records, we return with a bang on Saturday 21st February.
The Orchestra is the latest venture from Glasgow’s Million Dollar Disco record label. Spearheaded by revered local DJ and producer Al Kent, the label boasts an impressive track record of releases as well as an enviable reputation for hosting esteemed parties in Glasgow and across the UK. Striking a unique balance between paying respect to the spirit of disco whilst maintaining the flare of modern dance-floor sensibility, the nights have achieved cult status amongst young clubbers and disco stalwarts alike.
Featuring a full five-strong band, four vocalists - led by the wonderful Unoma Ukudo - a four piece horn section and fourteen piece string section, you can expect a hefty, funk-laden affair brimming with elegance and soul that modern music struggles to achieve. Certainly not the place to enjoy a glass of bubbly hinted by such an ensemble - the evening’s entertainment is firmly focused on keeping that disco fire burning on the dance-floor!
Disco’s theme of “Love Is The Message” grants the opportunity for an expertly-crafted journey through the essence of the era's most captivating music. A refreshing escape from the negativity that’s abundant within modern society’s headlines, the show is a journey to the apex of good vibes where love can once again save the day!
Be sure to catch the greatest manifestation of authentic disco since the golden days!
