Glasgow’s parks will host hundreds fun and free activity sessions this year as part of a scheme to get city residents up, active and socialising in their community parks and green spaces.
Delivered by Glasgow Life in partnership with Coca-Cola Great Britain, ParkLives is an annual programme of free and fun activities delivered in parks by local instructors.
The aim is to encourage as many people as possible to enjoy the free and informal sessions, which start in June at 10 parks including Bellahouston, Kelvingrove, Springburn, Victoria and Queen’s Park, and run throughout the year.
The introduction of the new ParkLives project comes as sports participation levels in Glasgow are a record high. Attendances at the city’s sports facilities currently stand at 6.6million, as more and more people get active.
The completely free programme is designed to appeal to all ages and abilities and will offer a wide range of sports from tennis to golf. Alongside the more traditional sports like football there will be plenty more unusual fun activities to try, including fitness bingo and baby loves disco.
All ParkLives sessions will be completely free and led by a trained session leader.
Activities will take place in the following parks:
Alexandra Golf Course
Bellahouston Park
Kelvingrove Park
Knightswood Golf Course
Lethamhill Golf Course
Linn Park Golf Course
Queen's Park
Ruchill Golf Course
Springburn Park
Victoria Park's Fossil Grove
