The Blue Chair is an independent family run cafe at 85 High Street. With an creative bent we serve wholesome home cooking & have a word smiths chair.
We are a small family business, opened by an Australian chef married to a Scottish songwriter. We are creative people who love good food & value the arts.
We have chosen to patronise the performing arts & wordsmiths within our café & consider our blue chair to be a gallery for art that you can’t hang on the wall.
We have a poem box in the café so you can submit any napkin (or other) poetry if you want to share. Check out our in-house poem bubble, which will feature a different poem each week. Any outstanding contributions to our poem box will be considered for this too. So you might even share your idle thoughts with our other patrons & if it does make it to the bubble we’ll give you a complimentary meal for two.
We’re open Friday & Saturday nights & offer The Blue Chair as a performers gallery. If you are a writer or performer & want to use the Chair Gallery have a chat to Jay or Lorelle.
Storytellers are welcome to use the chair too & we offer our chair especially to family oriented storytellers during Sunday Brunch.
To compliment this we will offer a selection of short but diverse menus running at different times during the week. They’ll be constantly updated with culinary delights from home & abroad to keep you interested.
Good simple food for the body, mind & the soul.
