Over 100 of the firm’s employees from across the UK covered 10,000 miles in just four weeks, surpassing the initial challenge figure of 5,000 miles, to secure donations from the firm’s staff and suppliers as well as family and friends.
The QTS board has also agreed to round up the money raised to £7,500, with all money raised being equally split between the firm’s five chosen charities of the year for 2021, including Samuel’s Smile, alongside Andy’s Man Club, KIND, The Kris Boyd Charity and Whiteleys Retreat.
Samuel’s Smile is a charity created by Samuel Bell which aims to help all children who suffer from rare diseases create memorable experiences that they can savour and give them a chance to smile.
Alan McLeish, QTS Managing Director, said: “The reason behind the challenge was twofold. Firstly, we wanted to encourage our team to increase their daily activity and take a step away from their workstations to help their mental health. Secondly, we wanted to use this opportunity to raise much needed funds for our nominated charities of the year.
“QTS set up the challenge using an app called MoveSpring, which allowed our team to download onto their phones and link to their fitness trackers.
“With staff working from home this encouraged them to still get out and get moving. The chat features on the app really encourage a healthy competitive atmosphere which lead to more steps and more donations!
“All the charities QTS is supporting this year are great causes, including Samuel’s Smile. We are delighted we have been able to raise and donate some money for the important work the charity does giving young people living with rare diseases across the country the chance to create memories of a lifetime.”
QTS Group announced its chosen charities of the year in January, making an initial donation of £500 to each. It hopes to continue fundraising for these causes throughout the year, with further team and individual fundraising challenges.
