After over a decade of unforgettable moments, legendary matches, and the emergence of global wrestling superstars, Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW) has announced it will leave its longtime home, The Asylum on Lister Street in Glasgow, in June 2025. However, ICW will continue to bring thrilling wrestling action to fans across Glasgow and beyond, with events in various venues throughout the city and further afield, marking an exciting new chapter for the promotion.
To mark this iconic venue’s farewell, ICW will host “Pour Wan Oot”, a weekend of events celebrating The Asylum’s unmatched legacy on Saturday, 21 June and Sunday, 22 June 2025.
Over the years, The Asylum has welcomed a who’s who of wrestling royalty. Current WWE Superstars Drew McIntyre, Piper Niven, Alba Fyre, and Nikki Cross have all graced the venue, alongside BBC favourites Grado and Lee Greig (AKA Jack Jester), and WWE alumni including Isla Dawn, Gallus, and Kenny Williams.
Beyond the squared circle, The Asylum has played host to some truly unique moments. From Martin Compston stepping into the ring for BBC Scotland’s Scottish Fling to the Lord Provost of Glasgow wrestling in support of Cash for Kids with Clyde One, the venue has become a true hub of entertainment. Most recently, just hours before WWE’s first-ever Scottish Premium Live Event, WWE Superstar Drew McIntyre made a surprise visit to GPWA — a powerful full-circle moment for the Scottish icon who began his career in the very same scene.
The Asylum is also the home of Glasgow Pro Wrestling Asylum (GPWA), a thriving training facility founded by ICW alumni, including the late Adrian "Lionheart" McCallum. GPWA has been instrumental in shaping the next generation of talent and will continue to do so from its new location on Miller Street, in the heart of Glasgow City Centre.
