That’s a wrap! As 2025 draws to a close, Lidl is launching its first-ever Lidl Wrapped - showcasing the nation’s shopping habits and top buys through wacky and festive wrapping paper. Using Lidl data to reveal some of the most checked out products across 10 cities in the UK, one of each region’s favourite items has been immortalised in a unique design - just in time to sleigh Christmas wrapping.
From Manchester’s avocado obsession and Leeds’ purchase of over 133 million peas, to Bristol’s 11-tonne haul of coleslaw and Glasgow’s cool love of seven million ice cubes – some of each city’s favourite buys have been transformed into playful paper patterns sure to add a Lidl twist to holiday celebrations.
One of each city’s favourite buy is:
● Birmingham - Roses
● Bristol - Deluxe Creamy Coleslaw
● Cardiff - 15 Welsh Mixed Weight Free Range Eggs
● Edinburgh - Lighthouse Bay 2 Scottish Salmon Fillets
● Glasgow - Gelatelli Ice Cubes
● Leeds - Freshona British Garden Peas
● Liverpool - All Butter Croissant
● London - Cucumber
● Manchester – Ready to Eat Avocado
● Sheffield - Raku Sushi Sharing Pack
To celebrate, the supermarket is rolling out free gift wrapping stations at 10 stores nationwide, giving fans a chance to elevate their Christmas gifting. From 9:00 AM (whilst stocks last), between 4th - 17th December, Lidl shoppers can have their festive finds wrapped in their city’s exclusive design for free, making for an un-bow-lievable gift that will jingle all the way from shelf to stocking while stock lasts.
What’s more, a festive favourite, Panettone joins the line-up with its own dough-lightful print, set to be rolled out nationwide at the pop-ups.
At each pop-up, shoppers can kick off their festivities with interactive games, winning everything from in-store discounts and vouchers to a £50 golden ticket, before having their Lidl purchases or even home-brought gifts, wrapped, for FREE.
For those who like to wrap things up themselves, packs of three wrapping sheets will be available to buy at each pop-up for just 75p, and all proceeds donated to Neighbourly, so fans can stock up for their gifts and deck them all this Christmas.
Alongside the trolley triumphs, new research from Lidl has also revealed the shopping trends and personalities that defined the year. The standout personality? ‘Loyal Locals’, with just under one in three Brits (29%) admitting they stick faithfully to their trusty local store, familiar routine, and go-to basket of goods. Hot on their heels were the ‘Deal Detectives’ (19%), snapping up supermarket apps, discount codes, and vouchers to make every penny count, and trailing behind was a familiar Lidl character, with just under one in 10 proudly identifying as ‘Middle Aisle Masters’ (6%), scooping up everything from woks to candles on their aisle adventures.
Joanna Gomer, Marketing Director at Lidl GB commented: “This year, our customers have shown us once again that the weekly shop is about more than groceries, it’s about moments, surprises, and the little joys that make life easier and bring people together. Looking ahead to 2026, we’re focused on giving our customers even more to value, extra reasons to smile, and plenty of those Lidl surprises that keep them coming back for more.”
Rolling out wrapping from the 4th - 17th December, Lidl’s free wrapping stations will be available while stock lasts:
Monday 8th December - Edinburgh, Midlothian, Slateford Road 155, EH14 1NZ- Salmon
Tuesday 9th December - Glasgow-Rutherglen, South Lanarkshire, 17 Richmond Place, G73 3BA - Ice Cubes
And Lidl Plus users can look out for their own personalised version of Lidl Wrapped, coming to the rewards app soon.
