Savouring Scotland’s officially rated best burger used to involve a 90-minute drive from Glasgow, but this festive season it’s just a 15-minute stroll away from the city centre.
The award-winning Burger Island is currently available at Glasgow Green’s Winter Wonderland - a free festive attraction for visitors from near and far which is already pulling in rave reviews on TikTok.
The iconic Fife foodie business was recently named Best Burger Place in Scotland at the first-ever British Burger Awards.
Burger Island is famous for its stacked creations, loaded dogs and fries, and limited-edition specials.
Visitors can now savour the delights of Burger Island at its Glasgow Green Winter Wonderland stall, which is open from Mondays to Fridays from 3 -10 pm and on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 -10 pm with extended hours from 19 December.
The best-selling burger business is one of the top names in a fantastic foodie line-up that features some of Scotland’s best-loved vendors who have set up shop at the Glasgow Green festive attraction.
Dockyard Social are on site with their Holy Smokehouse favourites and street-food classics, while Cromars Fish and Chips are bringing a taste of St Andrews with their award-winning suppers. There are also fabulous cakes and bakes to savour from Three Sisters Bake, indulgent desserts from Custard & Crumble, plus Dubai hot chocolate, bubble waffles, churros, loaded fries - and all the comfort food treats your heart could desire.
Winter Wonderland has taken over a huge stretch of Glasgow Green this year, replacing the city centre set-up of previous years with a bigger, bustling open space full of food stalls, festive rides, attractions and entertainments.
The free-to-enter festive celebration has already welcomed thousands of visitors since it opened last week.
Another standout attraction at the Glasgow Green event is the new Innis & Gunn Winter Beer Hall, a 700-capacity space created in partnership with Dockyard Social. Visitors can gather in the sociable surroundings with long tables, fairy lights and acoustic sets. There are pub quizzes to enjoy every Monday from Goose’s Quiz, and Trad Thursdays with live folk music, alongside outdoor fire pits, mulled wine and winter cocktails. Group bookings are available for parties over 15 - perfect for those looking for a last-minute impromptu Christmas night out.
Families can catch festive theatre shows under the 32-metre-high Big Top including Cinder’s Fella, a laugh-a-minute mini pantomime. Across the site, the classic rides are up and running, from the 35 metre high observation wheel to the Venetian Flying Chairs, alongside new additions like the hang-time ride, Air.
Christmas wouldn’t be complete without Santa of course, so families can include a visit to him at his Winter Wonderland themed grotto, with advance tickets starting at £12 for entry plus a festive photo, or £15 for a photo with a gift included.
Glasgow Green’s Winter Wonderland is only a 15-minute walk from the city centre, through which visitors can enjoy following the Lighting Trail, which features installations from artists across the UK.
