The announcement comes as the SEC enters a busy festive season of shows and family entertainment, including this weekend’s Bluey Live performance at the SEC Armadillo.
The three-year deal, launching this week, will see Equi’s serve three of its most popular flavours: Double Cream Vanilla, Raspberry Ripple, and Chip Off the Old Mint Choc, crafted in small batches at the company’s ice cream factory in Rutherglen. These will be available across the entire campus, including the SEC Centre, the OVO Hydro and the SEC Armadillo, bringing premium Scottish ice cream to millions of visitors attending some of the UK’s biggest concerts, comedy shows, live events, conferences and exhibitions each year.
The agreement will take Equi’s, which employs 26 staff in Glasgow, significantly closer to its ambition of growing turnover to £6m by the end of its financial year to May 2027. It’s the firm’s first foray into large venues. Currently 35% of business sits with large retailers and 65% with independent parlours and restaurants.
David Equi, CEO of Equi’s Ice Cream, said: “Becoming the official ice cream partner of the SEC is one of the most significant milestones in our 103-year history. As a family business, we’ve always believed in creating the best-tasting ice cream using the freshest Scottish milk and cream, and to now share that with visitors from all over the world at Scotland’s top entertainment venues is an honour.
“This partnership highlights not only the growth of the Equi’s brand, but also our commitment to sustainability, local sourcing and doing things the right way. We couldn’t be more excited to bring a scoop of happiness to every event.”
Debbie McWilliams, Chief Commercial Officer, at SEC said: “We are thrilled to welcome Equi’s as our official ice cream partner. Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at the SEC, and we are proud to partner with a local producer whose values and environmental commitment align so strongly with our own. Equi’s dedication to responsible sourcing, green production and supporting Scottish suppliers makes them a perfect fit for our campus. We know our audiences will love their ice cream just as much as we do.”
Equi’s Ice Cream, already recognised for its solar-powered dairy, reduced-waste production and responsible Scottish sourcing, represents a strong synergy with the campus’s ongoing green initiatives.
This collaboration also marks another step in Equi’s strategic growth plan as the brand continues to expand its footprint across Scotland and beyond.
