Charity donations from generous Christmas shoppers at Buchanan Galleries helped amass an impressive £66,000 during the festive season alone, contributing to an overall £100,000 raised in 2025 for the centre’s official charity partner, Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.
Buchanan Galleries has been an official charity partner of Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity since 2015 and has successfully raised more than half a million pounds in life-changing funds.
Fundraising efforts held in the shopping centre throughout December were aimed at spreading festive joy and fostering community spirit in Glasgow, including the return of the popular Santa’s Grotto and the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity pop-up shop, as well as local community choirs and school singing groups, and the charity’s gift-wrapping service.
Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity exists to support the children treated at Scotland’s biggest children’s hospital, their families and the NHS heroes who care for them. Thanks to public donations through partnerships such as that with Buchanan Galleries, the charity can continuously fund life-changing projects, specialist services, and essential medical equipment for children undergoing life-saving treatment in Glasgow and beyond.
William McGowan from Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity thanked Buchanan Galleries, saying: “We are so grateful to Buchanan Galleries shoppers, our volunteers, and choirs and performers, whose generosity helped to raise an incredible amount that will make such a difference to the lives of the children we support, and their families.”
Kathy Murdoch, Centre Manager at Buchanan Galleries, said: “We’re incredibly proud to have supported Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity for over a decade. This year, once again, our guests have shown extraordinary generosity, helping us raise vital funds while truly embodying the spirit of giving that makes Glasgow so special.
“At Buchanan Galleries, we are committed to making a positive difference in our community, and we look forward to continuing this vital work into 2026 and beyond. With more fundraising events and activities planned, we can’t wait to come together with our visitors to support the charity and make an even greater impact for the children and families it serves.”
