Skerryvore will host a huge World Cup Warm Up in aid of Street Soccer Scotland, it has been announced, taking over Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom on Saturday 23 May 2026 for a full-tilt celebration of Scottish music, football nostalgia and national pride.
With the World Cup wait finally over for Scotland football fans, Skerryvore had to mark the occasion in unforgettable fashion.
It’s been a generation since France ‘98 when the young band members watched wide-eyed as a nation dared to dream. Now, almost 30 years later, as Scotland prepares to step back onto football’s biggest stage, Skerryvore are inviting fans to relive that magic and get the passion stirring once again
The band were on stage in Bury St Edmunds during Scotland’s crucial game which secured them a place at the World Cup, with a video of them celebrating mid-song racking up over 1.8 million views.
Lifelong football fans, Skerryvore also travelled to Germany during the EUROs, performing at a star-studded Scottish night in Munich ahead of the opening match of the tournament, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Alex Ferguson and soaking up the unbeatable atmosphere that only happens when Scotland fans come together.
Famed for their explosive live shows and anthemic sound, Skerryvore’s unique fusion of traditional and contemporary music has taken them across the globe, living up to their Scotland-inspired slogan, No Skerryvore No Party.
On Saturday 23 May they will be focused on entertaining a beloved home crowd and generating some of their own spine-tingling moments for what promises to be one of Glasgow’s most talked-about nights of the year.
Stepping up to ensure a knock-out night are internet sensation and host Paddy Gunning, Scottish outfit The Laurettes, and some other well kent faces from the worlds of sport and music, to be announced.
The event will proudly support Street Soccer Scotland, with £1 from every ticket sold going directly to the charity and social enterprise that uses football themed programmes to create lasting positive change
for those most at risk, and socially disadvantaged people in Scotland and London.
The charity runs free, inclusive, trauma-informed football sessions which are open to everyone of all ages and backgrounds, creating communities of support and bringing people together.
Craig Espie from Skerryvore said: “For the first time since 1998, Scotland is heading to the World Cup and we just had to mark it, relive the memories and share our passion with music and football fans alike. It feels like yesterday that we were standing shoulder to shoulder watching Scotland take on the world, and that noise, the tears and emotion, and the togetherness never leaves you. Now that it’s time to do it all over again, we wanted to share our rallying cry for Scotland and stage something that will get everyone in the World Cup mood, while reflecting the spirit of the game and giving back when it matters most. Let’s gather, sing, celebrate and most importantly, believe. Next stop North America – via the Barrowland Ballroom!”
David Duke MBE, Founder and CEO of Street Soccer Scotland, said: “We are thrilled to have the support of the band and their wider team. This is a fantastic partnership opportunity for Street Soccer Scotland, raising awareness as well as the support resulting from the gig will be reinvested in the ongoing support of our players and programmes across our Scottish communities.”
Skerryvore’s World Cup Warm Up will take place on Saturday 23 May 2026 at Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom.
General tickets go on sale 10am, Saturday 7 March, with early access to Skerryvore mailing list subscribers from 10am, Friday 6 March. £1 from every ticket will go directly to Street Soccer Scotland. Visit www.skerryvore.com
