Seren and Stanly Gam Acharige, aged eight and 10, have been chosen to take part in a dance theatre version of classic fairy tale Snow White. Performed by acclaimed company balletLORENT, the show will be at Tramway on 20 and 21 March 2026.
And whilst the appearance is well within the comfort zone of dance-loving Seren, brother Stanly usually prefers to spend his free time with Pollok United soccer academy, where he trains with the under-16s team three times a week.
The siblings were selected, along with seven fellow pupils, after dance company balletLORENT held a workshop for years P3-P5, at St Albert's Primary School.
Pupils were invited to join the cast for their "enthusiasm and spirit" rather than any previous dance training. This meant that dance novice Stanly, will now appear alongside his sister, who already enjoys performing with Barrowland Ballet's Wolf Pack dance group.
Around 100 students took part in a workshop, which was led by balletLORENT dancers Gavin Coward and Tassia Sissins. All the young performers are aged between eight and 10 and will appear in two scenes, alongside balletLORENT's own dancers.
The two Glasgow shows, an evening performance and a matinee, are the final dates on a mini tour that took in Fife and Dundee. However none of the pupils left their studies behind to go on the road. balletLORENT identified a new ‘young cast’ in each location.
With choreography by balletLORENT artistic director Liv Lorent, costumes by Lady Gaga and Madonna designer Nasir Mazhar and Libby El-Alfy (Game of Thrones) and music by Dr Who composer Murray Gold, the children will be part of an impressive line-up of talent.
James MacGillivray, education & projects manager, balletLORENT said: “For many children, taking part in a professional stage production is a unique and transformative experience. It not only builds their confidence and creativity but also enhances their ability to collaborate, communicate, and express themselves in new ways.
“Schools benefit immensely too from our young cast initiative, as these workshops enrich their arts provision and inspire both students and teachers alike.”
Suitable for ages 5+, balletLORENT’s dance theatre version of Snow White retains all the classic elements of the original Brothers Grimm tale, which has been familiar to story lovers for over two centuries.
Directed by balletLORENT founder Liv Lorent, the show is a significant reworking of balletLORENT's 2015/16 Snow White, which delighted audiences around the country and received four star reviews in The Guardian and The Times when it toured again in 2025.
Two for one tickets are available on Friday 20 March if booked via this link by Sunday 15 March 2026.
