The Commitments and UB40 tribute acts announced alongside local musicians for inaugural celebration at Queen’s Park!
The Queen's Park Food Festival has also confirmed a selection of free attractions, family activities and challenges tailored to friends and families alike.
Michael Johnston spoke on the importance of representing local musicians at the event: “One of our core values is to champion locality across all aspects of the event. Our main stage gives us a fantastic opportunity to do this, so we’re proud to showcase many of the wonderful musicians and performers from across the region’s vibrant music scene.”
Saturday 6th June
Headlining Saturday evening are The McCommitments, Scotland’s renowned eleven-piece tribute to the soul classics of The Commitments. The complete line-up includes:
● 11:00 Will Forrester Smooth Saxophone - intricate saxophone covers
● 12:00 Howlin’ Mat - blues and country soloist
● 13:15 Mambo Jambo - acoustic roots duo
● 14:30 Lynsey Dolan Band - Glasgow soul and blues band
● 16:00 Reekie Trio - Scottish rock and pop covers band
● 17:45 The McComittments - The Commitment’s tribute
● 19:15 Ibiza Sax Classics - Ibiza favourites
Sunday 7th June
Headlining Sunday evening are One In Ten, Scotland’s leading tribute band to the timeless reggae classics of UB40. The full line-up includes:
● 11:00 Will Forrester Smooth Saxophone - intricate saxophone covers
● 11:45 Rock Choir - community-built choir
● 13:00 Solea - Glasgow-based guitar duo
● 14:15 The Bopshots - high-energy Scottish rock and roll band
● 15:30 Eilidh & The Energy - four-piece covers and originals band
● 17:15 One In Ten - UB40 Tribute
● 18:30 Ibiza Sax Classics - Ibiza favourites
Free Family Attractions
Festival-goers can also enjoy a packed schedule of free entertainment and activities, including a live cookery theatre, magic shows, and more. While some of these attractions are yet to be unveiled, plans for the Sizzling Showdown Arena have now been disclosed.
Three daily competitions will take place at arena:
● A Family Dog Show - inviting beloved family pets to face-off in wholesome challenges
● A Chilli Challenge - Daring food-themed contests for brave participants
● The Foodie Olympics - A Series of Sports Day-inspired challenges with a food-and-drink twist
Perched next door to the arena will be the eccentric Inflatable Banana Jousting Ring, inviting competitive families and friends to challenge one another to light-hearted duels.
Early bird tickets are still available, priced at £6.95 for an adult, £4.95 for Under 16’s and Free for Under 5’s.
