House for an Art Lover will mark the start of its 30th anniversary year with a one-night-only dinner on April 21st, led by Restaurant Andrew Fairlie’s Head Chef, Stephen McLaughlin, bringing a significant moment in Scotland’s culinary history back to the Mackintosh-designed venue.
Taking place this April, the dinner revisits an original evening held in 2006, when Stevie and the late Andrew Fairlie cooked together at the House shortly after securing their second Michelin star. Two decades on, the event returns as both a reflection of that moment and a continuation of it.
Head Chef of Scotland's longest standing two Michelin starred restaurant, Restaurant Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles, Stevie will present a bespoke menu for the occasion, served within the Mackintosh Suite and paired with wines throughout the evening.
The dinner sets the tone for a year of activity celebrating 30 years of House for an Art Lover. Since opening in 1996, the venue has become a defining part of Glasgow’s cultural landscape, operating as an independent arts charity with a remit to promote art, architecture and design.
The evening will also act as a fundraiser for the charity, with guests invited to enjoy the dinner before taking part in a curated raffle in support of the House’s ongoing work.
Stevie said: “Coming back to House for an Art Lover for this dinner feels incredibly special. The original evening with Andrew was a real moment in time and to revisit that now, 20 years on, as the House marks 30 years, is something I’m really proud to be part of. It’s about honouring that history while creating something new for guests to experience. We're excited to be bringing some of our Restaurant Andrew Fairlie magic to this stunning venue.”
The event also coincides with a milestone period for Restaurant Andrew Fairlie, which marks 25 years in 2026 and has held two Michelin stars for over two decades, making it one of the most respected and enduring restaurants in the UK.
Garry Sanderson, Director of House for an Art Lover, added: “This is a very important year for us as we celebrate 30 years of House for an Art Lover. We wanted to begin those celebrations in a way that feels true to the House, bringing people together through art, design and shared experience.
There is a long-standing connection here with Stephen and Andrew, so revisiting that original dinner feels both natural and meaningful. It allows us to reflect on the House’s history while also looking forward and to continue supporting our work as a charity.”
Set within Bellahouston Park and inspired by the original designs of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, House for an Art Lover remains one of Glasgow’s most distinctive venues.
With limited capacity, the dinner is expected to be a highlight of the House’s 30th anniversary programme, bringing together long-standing supporters, new audiences and those with a shared appreciation for design and dining.
Tickets are priced at £150 and are available via the House for an Art Lover website.
