Fully restored to its former glory in 2008, Garrison House now boasts the local NHS Medical Centre, a state of the art Library, the Museum of the Cumbraes, the Courtyard Café, North Ayrshire local council services office and rooms available for community use.
The Courtyard Café
Serving home baking and light refreshments, the Courtyard Café is now proving a very popular addition to the Garrison. With its light & airy café area opening out to the courtyard on one side and the Museum on the other, it is also proving to be an attractive venue for weddings and other events.
Library & Council Offices
The new Millport Library spreads itself sumptuously over three rooms, containing the Library Desk, a browsing section for new books, DVDs, CDs or Large Print along with the spacious I.T. suite containing 9 internet computers for use by readers and visitors alike.
Museum of the Cumbraes
Housed within Garrison House, the Museum of The Cumbraes provides a fascinating glimpse into Cumbrae’s past. From 4,000 year-old stone cists, through stories of smuggling in the 18th century to life during WWII and indeed life on the island today.
Garrison Model Railway
Garrison model rail club or GMRC was founded in December 2006 by members of the community with an interest in model railways. The display is totally free entry
