New outdoor exhibition of dreamy lockdown photography from Lottie Nadeau goes on display
A new outdoor exhibition of lockdown-created works from photographer Lottie Nadeau (a recent graduate of ECA) have gone on display in Glasgow in Edinburgh.

Her works form part of our ongoing Your Space Or Mine arts initiative that provides a platform for artists on the street, and are being displayed on our sites in Edinburgh and Glasgow for all to enjoy in safe, distanced and accessible way.
In a series of 12 photographs that both enchant and unsettle Nadeau explores and represents the vicissitudes of life in lockdown. Ideally home is a refuge but for pretty much a whole year now our domestic environments have assumed a less than cosy ambience. It feels as if the walls are closing in. The more space shrinks the more likely we are to bump into ourselves. After all, for many people there’s no one else to bump into.
Of the work Nadeau says: “They’re all images made whenever I’ve had spontaneous bursts of energy or inspiration throughout lockdown. It started out working with light and shadows, exploring the real interacting with images of shadows. But as there’s been limited daylight and warmth going in to winter months I’ve found myself creating a response to the things that I’m longing for or missing through the view of windows- this is especially relevant to ‘Dreaming of Golden hour’. I think that the repetition of hands and the multiplication of them throughout the images mirrors my overwhelming feelings of stress and the desire to be productive. I wanted to change the spaces I’ve been occupying, so creating these digital manipulations has felt like an expanded space to be in.”
You can find Lottie's work displayed in Glasgow on Scotland Street, Osbourne Street and St Enoch/Maxwell Street and in Edinburgh at Fountain Bridge and Meadowbank.
