Sophie Gravia, the mum, nurse and best-selling author of ‘A Glasgow Kiss’ will be talking about her book on Saturday, February 5th at the Bookface Book Swap Brunch in Glaschu.
The Bookface Book Swap Brunches are the brainchild of Hollicom PR’s Heather Suttie. The former broadcaster is an avid reader and started the book group on Facebook last year in the midst of the pandemic. The group has now grown to an astonishing 1800 members worldwide and features a book swap, prosecco, brunch and monthly get-together.
This non-profit event sees almost 60 members meet each month, all of them armed with four books to swap with fellow members. It’s the ultimate in low-cost, sustainable book-reading and often sparks an interest among members in other authors.
Debut novelist Sophie will share several of the hilarious anecdotes from her best-selling romcom about modern dating. It became the literary hit of the year and marked the arrival of a bright, new talent in comedy fiction. And the good news for her army of fans is that she’ll be returning with a new book in 2022.
Even though her work as a nurse meant gruelling shifts working in hospital combined with being a mum, Sophie found time to write the book; locate an editor and source an illustrator. She then self-published on Amazon and the rest is 24-carat, Scottish literary history.
Sophie Gravia said: “I’m thrilled to be taking part in the Bookface Book Swap Brunch. I’m a member of the group and have already been to a brunch at Glaschu and loved it!”
Heather Suttie, founder of Bookface said: “I loved Sophie’s book. It’s a hilarious page-turner and Sophie’s very much Scotland’s own Jackie Collins: talented, funny and gorgeous, I’m full of admiration for her, not just for this book but for achieving this success while being on the NHS front-line in the midst of the pandemic!”
Tickets are priced £25 and on sale now from Eventbrite: https://bit.ly/3rn3tvc
The event is hosted by journalist Carla Jenkins and runs from 9.30am-12.30 and includes tea or coffee; a glass of Prosecco and brunch. It’s limited to 60 tickets which are sure to be snapped up quickly.
Please email Diana@Hollicom.co.uk if you’d like to join the waitlist.
