The new Scottish flagship restaurant marked its debut on Saturday, 1st October, serving over 500 free kebabs in just four hours.
Located beside the Cineworld entrance in Silverburn, the Berlin street-food brand served is one of the latest restaurants to hit Glasgow with its new generation of street food in a relaxed and casual, but memorable experience. With seating for 65 diners, the restaurant has been hugely popular since it opened its doors, boosting the shopping centre’s dining options.
“We have finally bought Berlin inspired street-food to one of the most exciting cities in the world, Glasgow,” commented co-founder and managing director, Sanjeev Sanghera. “The initial support we’ve received since opening the restaurant has been incredible and we are so excited to delight our customers with our fresh-tasting, delicious and convenient food concept. We are determined to challenge the perception of kebabs in Glasgow by serving ethically sourced, good-quality meat, fresh salad and our delicious signature sauces that are not just a guilty late-night pleasure.”
“For the free kebab giveaway, more than 1,900 people had signed up to come along – these numbers demonstrate the excitement of our arrival. It’s incredible! Our kitchen staff deserve huge credit for all their hard work to serve as many people as possible in such a short period, and it also shows the efficiency and speed of our streamlined kitchen operations. Döner Shack is going to be the perfect place for people to come and eat whilst doing their shopping or gather with friends for a fun evening out,” added Sanjeev.
David Pierotti, General Manager for Silverburn, added: “Döner Shack is a strong addition to our line-up and a brilliant brand that has resonated with shoppers, so we are unsurprised that the restaurant is trading so well already. The food and beverage offer at Silverburn is first class and we are proud of the choice we can offer to customers seeking a range of options.”
Open for all day dining, take-away, delivery and click & collect, diners can enjoy authentic Berlin kebabs using freshly baked traditional Turkish Pida, with a choice of salads and home-made signature sauces. The menu offers a variety of German street-food favourites including Kebaps, Currywurst, Schnitzel, Fries, Milkshakes, Fritz Kola and Germany’s favourite beer, Bitburger Pilsner- all priced between £6- £9.
Döner Shack now has four restaurants in the UK, with the other three in Leeds, Leicester and Manchester. Further Döner Shack outlets are due to open in the capital in the late Autumn with plans to open up to 150 restaurants in the next five years.
