And you can bet your boots that 20-year-old student nurse, Alix Maitland was delighted with the £25,855 donated by the ice hockey outfit, based at Braehead Arena.
The Clan dedicated their recent home game against Manchester Storm to raising money for the Lymphoma Action charity.
The Clan players wore limited edition hockey jerseys that were specifically designed to promote Alix’s fundraising efforts. And after the match, fans bid to buy the tops when they were auctioned with all profits going to the charity.
There was also be a bucket collection at the Arena during the game and information leaflets about Hodgkin Lymphoma were handed out to raise awareness about the disease and its early symptoms.
Alix, from Paisley hadn't been showing any symptoms and was shocked when doctors gave her the devastating news that the pea-sized lump in her neck was Stage Four Hodgkin Lymphoma cancer that had spread to her neck, chest, spleen and bones.
Clan fans will recognise Alix as one of the flag bearers who skate around the ice rink in the run-up to an Elite League ice hockey game starting. The former figure skater is also a part-time steward at the Braehead Ice Centre during public skating sessions.
Alix said: “I’m lost for words, as I never expected the Clan to raise that much. That total is amazing, the support and generosity on the night from everyone was unmatched.
“I know the charity will be so grateful to receive that amount as it allows them to continue helping people in the same boat as me.”
Gareth Chalmers, managing director of Braehead Arena said: “Alix is well known to the Clan family and we were shocked to hear about her cancer diagnosis. But she has shown incredible bravery by launching her fundraising campaign to raise money for Lymphoma Action while going through chemotherapy with after-effects that can be quite debilitating.
“The best way for us to salute Alix and her courage was to help her collect as much money as possible for the charity and our fans have been extremely generous to raise so much money for a good cause.”
