Pavilion Theatre staff reminisce about their favourite toys ahead of The McDougalls In Toyland arriving at the venue

Do you remember your favourite toy? That best friend that you’d carry under your arm come rain or shine? That you’d confide in, cry to and have wonderful adventures with?

In anticipation of THE MCDOUGALLS IN TOYLAND arriving at the Pavilion Theatre on 3rd August, venue staff at the theatre have been getting nostalgic about their own favourite childhood toys.

“I begged my parents for this big soft toy dog,” one Pavilion employee says, “I took him everywhere when I got him for Christmas. I desperately wanted a real dog so I’d even drag him around on a lead!”

Another employee would play a bit rougher with his toys. “I loved wrestling figures,” he says, “It’s quite a funny story, because when I was a kid I played with wrestling figures, and then when I grew up, I put on wrestling shows and actually flew the same people over. So I ended up working with the figures I played with in real life!”

Another Pavilion worker agrees: “I’d play with wrestling figures too. And Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, they were my favourite!”

But there are some painful memories mixed in with the joyful ones.

“I remember losing my teddy on the train,” says one employee, “I was devastated. I made my mum call lost property every morning for weeks… I think this show would have brought me a lot of comfort!”

THE MCDOUGALLS IN TOYLAND is set in the magical Toyland, where toys go after they’ve been lost. But never fear! Audiences will hop on board the Toyland Train with Max, Auntie Aggie and Morag the Rabbit and help return the lost toys to their rightful owners.

The show takes its young audience to a magical realm over the rainbow, full of talking teddies, jolly jigsaws and dancing dollies! Packed with singalong songs such as If You’re Happy and You Know it, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Miss Polly Had a Dolly, this five-star family show is the perfect day out with the kids – filled with musical mayhem and bucket loads of audience participation.
