Govan Town Hall, on the banks of the Clyde, is the venue for the iconic live cèilidh which will be hosted by Cathy MacDonald and Niall Iain Macdonald and will be broadcast to audiences world-wide.
Ingrid Henderson, renowned Cèilidh na Bliadhn' Ùire musical director, has assembled an all-star musical bill led by the legendary Dàimh, who will bring an infectious energy to the Govan stage, their powerhouse union of traditional music and Gaelic providing the perfect bridge from the old year to the new. Hogmanay’s hottest ticket also includes a trio of acclaimed singers: Following notable success with Skipinnish, Norrie “Tago” MacIver will share the stage with National Mòd royalty, Emma MacLeod and Ruairidh Gray.
Still airborne from their multiple successes at the Lochaber Mod, the Glasgow Gaelic Musical Association, better known as the GGs, showcase their winning harmonies and choral virtuosity under the expert tutelage of Iseabail Mactaggart.
Ingrid Henderson, in addition to her musical director role, will also lead the redoubtable Glenfinnan Cèilidh band, the musical hosts for the evening with Iain MacFarlane, Iain MacMaster, Hugh MacCallum and the irrepressible Anna Massie. The formidably talented group of musicians not only guarantee a party, they are a party!
Iain Macleod, Executive Producer for BBC ALBA, said: “It’s an honour to be part of such an iconic programme. Cèilidh na Bliadhn’ Ùire is a real landmark in the broadcasting calendar — a show that brings people together across the country and across the world. It holds a special place in the schedule and in audiences’ hearts, and it’s a privilege to help bring that tradition to life from Glasgow.”
Ellen MacDonald from Dàimh, said: “I’m delighted to be part of this year’s BBC ALBA Hogmanay ceilidh. I can’t wait to share the stage with such an incredible line-up, and to celebrate our music and culture as we welcome the New Year together.”
And Fiona MacKenzie, Commissioning Editor, MG ALBA, agrees: “We’re thrilled to be broadcasting this year’s Hogmanay celebrations from Govan Town Hall. It’s a wonderful opportunity to bring in the New Year surrounded by incredible talent, and our line-up promises an unforgettable night. BBC ALBA is proud to share this special event with audiences, showcasing the best of Scotland’s talent as we welcome in 2026.”
