The GVVT is pleased to open our home, Bridgeton Bus Garage, to the public on the first Sunday of April, May, June, July & September. Our Super Sunday events allow you to explore the Garage and see our 140 buses, coaches, fire engines and commercial vehicles, many of which are fully restored and operational, with other awaiting or under restoration.
*We don’t have an August Super Sunday as our Family and Community event is a week earlier on 27th July!
We are Open from 1100-1630 on the following Sundays:
Sunday 6 April – Motorbikes & Pushbikes
A full-throttle celebration on two wheels showcasing all machines from superbikes to pedal cycles, modern and historic. Roll up, show your bike, browse the stalls and get your fix of GVVT’s classics.
Sunday 11 May – GVVT Goes to Town
See Glasgow the vintage way as our buses operate extra free services on routes throughout the city. Sample the Bridges Tour, a sightseeing experience of the crossings of the Clyde from Albert to Arc, and take a top-deck view of George Square and surrounding streets on our regular city centre shuttle. Discover these and more special tours on the day.
Sunday 1 June – Comic-on on the buses
Journey to a new universe – and win prizes – as GVVT enters the world of comic book culture. With a star-studded line-up of fantasy and sci-fi characters and a galaxy of vendors selling an array of goods from art and toys to crafts and clothing, Comic-On the Buses is a fusion of classic transport and imagination. Awards are up for grabs in our cosplay competition, so dress to impress.
Sunday 6 July – Classic Cars & Model World
Bentleys meet buses and a huge variety of thoroughbreds from Jaguars to Chevies and Fords as GVVT opens its doors to petrolheads and diesel devotees. Clubs and independent owners are invited to display their drive.
Sunday 7 September – Blue Lights, Buses & Troops
Fall in with the ranks of our classic buses and trucks as GVVT celebrates the services, emergency and military. Police, fire and rescue, air ambulance, Army, Navy and RAF gather at the garage with vehicles and displays from past and present day – and all to the swinging sound of the Michael Brawley Big Band and GI dancers.
You can pay on the door (cash and card accepted) for our Super Sunday events or purchase tickets in advance from our online shop.
Child tickets are for children aged 3-15. A family ticket is valid for 2 adults and 2 children or 1 adult and 3 children. Under 3’s are admitted free and don’t require a ticket!
Refreshments and toilets are be available.
The GVVT Wee Happy Shop will be open selling books, models and merchandise.
We hope to have a small number of visiting vehicles on display to compliment the vehicles in the GVVT collection.
A free shuttle service will operate every 30 minutes between the Garage and City Centre.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
