The Al-Furqan Islamic Centre, located in the west end of Glasgow, is holding a Mosque Open Day on the 28th and 29th of September 2024. This event comes at an important time as the Centre seeks to build bridges and foster a spirit of unity in the community following recent unrest in parts of the UK.
Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the mosque, learn about Islamic culture through a ‘Islam and the Scots - the Historical Links’ exhibition, and enjoy a selection of refreshments. With activities planned for all age groups, the event is set to be a fun and informative day out for families and individuals alike.
The Mosque Open Day is part of Al-Furqan Islamic Centre’s ongoing commitment to promoting understanding and cooperation within the local community. Through these efforts, the centre seeks to demystify aspects of Islam, encourage open conversations, and strengthen relationships within Glasgow’s richly diverse society.
Haq Ghani, Outreach Coordinator at Al-Furqan Islamic Centre, spoke about the significance of the event: "In a world where misunderstandings can create division, our ‘Visit my Mosque’ day is a chance to bring people together. Our mosque is not only a place of worship but a place of community, learning, and friendship. We invite everyone to visit, ask questions, and share in the values of respect and unity that we all hold dear."
The centre welcomes everyone in the Glasgow community to join this special event, which aims to build bridges, encourage dialogue, and foster unity among people from all walks of life. The open day will be held at 19 Carrington St, Glasgow G4 9AJ.
