Learn aerial and acrobatic arts, with a personalised focus on creating an act in your favourite discipline, which you can perform in an end-of-course show.
Here's a one-off opportunity to learn from an acrobat who’s fresh from a three-year stint in Las Vegas with Cirque du Soleil, the pinnacle of circus performance.
Luke Quadrio trained with the Chinese national circus before traveling the world as a performer and instructor. Now he’s coming to Aerial Edge in Glasgow for a short time as a guest instructor.
The course is open to people at all stages, ages, abilities, shapes and sizes – no previous knowledge is required. At the same time, people with experience in performance or physical disciplines can be sure that they will push themselves to achieve much more.
Whatever your starting point, your training will be personalised to be suitable for what you as an individual can achieve. We have students who are training successfully with us into their 70s, and professional performers too.
On this course, you’ll learn a broad range of aerial arts including trapeze, silks, aerial hoop, rope, straps and of course our famous flying trapeze.
With Luke, you'll cover handstands and group/duo acrobalance among other ground-based acrobatic disciplines, trampoline, tumbling and his speciality, Chinese pole.
And to keep you training smart and safe throughout your life, you'll get an understanding of our tried and tested systems for conditioning and flexibility.
These are designed not just to improve your capability but to reduce the risk of injuries by strengthening as well as stretching the soft tissues, so that they can sustain the forces you will apply in dynamic moves.
Course content also includes tuition in act creation, choreography and movement practice which transform a series of moves and tricks into a fluent performance.
During the four weeks, you will learn a range of skills, with a personalised focus on your favourite discipline so that you can develop an act for the end-of-course show.
The course runs Monday-to-Friday from 10am-5pm for four weeks in September/October.
For a more in-depth training programme, see our listing for the four-month full-time training course with Luke Quadrio, starting on August 14th.
There is also a chance to learn acrobatics from Luke in evening classes – look for our listing for the 12-week course.
