Let your imagination run free at this dazzling recital from acclaimed young flautist Matthew James Higham, with pianist Hye Soo Kang. Launching Glasgow Cathedral Festival 2023, Higham – who has appeared as a soloist at international venues including Carnegie Hall and Wigmore Hall – performs some of the best-loved works composed for the flute, exploring its innate capabilities as a virtuoso instrument.
Darting and flitting through Mácha’s Variations and Berio’s fiendish Sequenza I, this programme also features ornate Bach, skipping towards the blues-inflected harmony and breezy charm of Martinů to finish—a truly refreshing antidote to the weekday rush!
