Directly translating as ‘Flowers and Deceased Nature’, this exhibition pulls together living subjects such as flowers and immortalises them in Lex’s distinctive, brightly coloured compositions. Painted from the artist's studio in Burgundy, France, this is the first time he has created an exhibition with flowers being the main feature.
Lex grew up in the Ayrshire village of Symington, before graduating in Sculpture from the Glasgow School of Art. Known to many through his previous career as a highly respected fashion designer creating top end couture ranges, Lex returned to his first love of drawing and painting in 2001.
His recent works have seen a change in direction. While previously working in portraiture, still lives and landscapes are now his main focus, inspired by the beauty surrounding him in France as well as some new themes for this exhibition.
Living on the Crinan Canal for many years, Lex now splits his time between Argyll and his second home in Burgundy, France.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
