The Glasgow leg of this mini-tour brings two of the most exciting and unconventional bands in contemporary folk and trad together for a night of original tunes, big beats and much dancing!
Ostar Sound is the culmination of five seasoned touring musicians let loose on their own musical indulgences. Expect fierce fiddle and saxophone, ancient melodies, heavy synth breakdowns and big bass lines to get you dancing.
Led by folk guitarist Nicky Kirk (Eabhal, An Dannsa Dub) and virtuoso Scottish fiddler Ross Hull, Ostar Sound takes the traditional music they love – the musical heritage of Scotland and Ireland, along with global folk music – and infuse it with contemporary electronics and their own brand of psychedelia.
Yoko Pwno create a storm on the dancefloor with their accessible and irreverant take on the music of Scotland. With band members based in Edinburgh and the seaside town of Dunbar, their music is a high-energy fusion of Celtic and electronic styles, with mad eclecticism and solid grooves taking the tunes far from tartan-shortbread-tin territory.
Since 2020 their lineup has featured fiddle and showstopping vocals from frontwoman Lissa Robertson, Lewis Williamson on fiddle, flautist Helen Le-Mar, Gary Rafferty on banjo, producer Calum Cummins and Ali Hutchison on drums.
