Laugh in the Park Festival has sold out its Summer date in Queens Park for the last three years, receiving rave reviews and TV, National Radio and Press attention. Each year's scale and lineup are more ambitious than the last. The event will, of course, return in 2024 - more on that soon!
In the meanwhile, we couldn't help ourselves but to put together a very special and very exclusive (only 250 capacity) event to tide us over this winter.
Laugh in the Dark embodies the same ethos as the Festival, i.e., the very best in Scottish Comedy with an absolutely bonkers lineup for great value, but in an intimate setting and with this weather, thank God, a warm setting!
The Lineup
We are super proud of our lineup, featuring our usual mixture of big names and a couple of newer acts from the Scottish Stand Up scene, whom we think you really should see.
Scottish Comedy Superstar and multi-award winner Gary Faulds is top of the bill, joined by BBC's Scot's Squad Darren Connell, our regular loved host, Scottish Comedy Awards "Best Compare" Billy Kirkwood. Resident funny man and BBC Comedy short lister Mikey Motion is also joined by two new rising stars making waves on the circuit: Dean T Burnie and Paddy Linton.
To top all that off, we want to make this one for the history books and have a brilliant and well-loved surprise guest (we just are not allowed to tell you until the night).
The Venue
The Classic Grand - Since its inception in the mid-2000s, the Classic Grand on Jamaica Street has played host to an impressive array of top acts, such as Stereophonics, Five, Adele, Feeder, and Grandmaster Flash. Originally known as The Grand Central when it opened in 1915, this venue began its journey as a converted Victorian warehouse, primarily featuring comedy and "talkies." Transitioning into the 1950s, it evolved into an underground cinema, specializing in erotica and horror. We have already test-piloted the venue for comedy, and it stands out as an untapped gem, making it ideal for this unique, one-off show.
