The talented performer will take his music to nine venues across the country, accompanied by a stellar band consisting of Skerryvore’s Scott Wood (pipes and whistles) and Jodie Bremaneson (bass guitar), Mànran’s Mark Scobbie (drums and percussion), renowned folk musician Mhairi Mackinnon (strings), talented guitarist, producer and songwriter Euan Malloch (electric guitar), innovative instrumentalist Grant McFarlane (accordion) and BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year Finalist Ainsley Hamill (vocals).
From his roots as a fiddle player, Findochty-based Ron has evolved into a highly sought-after and respected accompanist over the past decade, excelling as an arranger, fiddler, guitarist and pianist. His debut solo album Vincular is a culmination of these esteemed partnerships, and reflects on Ron’s collaborative and creative musical journey.
Eager to share his collective work and indisputable talent with communities across the country, the revered multi-instrumentalist will take to nine Scottish stages in total, including Edinburgh’s very own Mash House.
Ron Jappy said: “I couldn’t be more excited to bring such a talented cast of musicians with me on the live tour of my debut solo album. My entire musical identity is rooted in collaboration, and playing with such exceptional artists has been transformative for me.
“Vincular, the name of both the tour and my record, holds a special meaning. It signifies the act of binding and connecting, reflecting on my role as an accompanist. I believe in the power of music when bringing people together, and as an accompanist, my aim is always to support and enhance the performer, while fostering a connection with the audience. It's a dynamic and creative process and one which I can’t wait to bring to the Edinburgh community.”
In a career spanning over a decade, Ron has travelled extensively with his music, performing across the UK, America, Bahrain, Indonesia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand and the UAE. He has collaborated with a plethora of established artists, including Claire Hastings, Iona Fyfe, Jamie Smith’s Mabon, Joy Dunlop, Mànran, Rachel Hair, Skerryvore, and the Scott Wood Band.
