Inspired by her family’s heritage in the American South and her experiences growing up in Chicago, Kara Jackson is an award-winning poet, singer-songwriter, and producer from Oak Park, Illinois.
Having received acclaim as the 2019 National Youth Poet Laureate and Youth Poet Laureate of Chicago (2018), Kara Jackson released her debut Why Does The Earth Give Us People To Love? in April 2023 to widespread acclaim from the likes of The New Yorker, The Guardian, Pitchfork, NPR and The New York Times.
Subsequently, she has embarked on a worldwide tour including sold-out performances in London, New York, and Los Angeles, supporting the likes of Neko Case, Ibeyi, Julia Jacklin and Angel Olsen.
