‘Glasgow: City of Poets’ – a celebration of Glasgow’s poets and the city’s place in the history of Scottish poetry.
The event will reflect on the legacy of Robert Burns, following his death at the end of the 18th century, and will explore the development of poetry in Glasgow through the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. We’ll present film and audio from the National Library of Scotland’s Moving Image and Sound Archive with readings of work by some of the most significant poets of the past, celebrated poets of the present, and contemporary voices paving the way for poets of the future.
Wednesday 22nd January, 6.15-7.45pm. Free, but ticketed please book here.
This event coincides with the 20th anniversary of St Mungo’s Mirrorball and is part of the Kelvin Hall’s programme to celebrate the 850th birthday of the City of Glasgow.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
