Forest Families sessions are family events and most suited to children of 1-7 years.
All children must be accompanied by an adult but only buy a ticket for the wee ones.
Sunday 7th December - Christmas Whittle
Using both wood from our wild places and some craft materials, make a Christmas themed character for you to take home. Perhaps you could hang it on your Christmas tree. Full instruction given by the ranger.
Sunday 14th December - A Crafty Christmas
This might get messy. Using craft materials, be creative and make colourful and unusual nature themed Christmas craft for you to take home.
Sunday 28th December - Sensational Shelters
Imagine yourself lost in the wilderness. Build a sturdy shelter to protect against the elements, using what you find round about in the woods.
Sunday 4th January - Natural Prints
Leaves, lichen, bark. Use natural materials to create wonderful prints with a natural theme. Take them home afterwards to brighten up the winter months.
Sunday 11th January - Natural Frames
There is still plenty of colour at this time of year out in the woods. Make a frame from sticks found along the way, weave wool into it and create a bespoke work of art using other natural materials you\'ll find on your travels.
Sunday 18th January - Dragonfly Mobiles
Get crafty and make dragonflies using resources we find in the woods, before making them into a mobile to hang in your house.
Sunday 25th January - All About Birds
To help celebrate the RSPB's big Garden Bird Watch weekend, we'll be discovering all things bird related. We'll also be making feeders for you to take home to help our feathered friends through the Winter.
Sunday 15th February - Kites Above
Get creative with both natural and man made materials to make a fantastic bespoke kite that will (hopefully) soar far above you.
Sunday 22nd January - The Dark Hours of Mugdock
Discover a different side of Mugdock on this guided walk in the dark and in our wild places. Listen for signs of our native animals and birds and hear stories concerning wild things, whilst sitting around the fire.
