This International Women’s Day, join The National Library of Scotland at Kelvin Hall to celebrate the genre defining female artists of the music industry with this inspiring documentary. Weaving together personal anecdotes with a scrapbook audio-visual aesthetic, 'Since Yesterday' takes us through each decade, a colourful mixtape is formed spanning multiple musical genres.
Discover unheard demos, lost archives and rare performances that celebrate the women who never compromised and subsequently got lost in time. The film takes a critical look at the barriers women have faced making music in the past and still face today. It asks how we can inspire young women to make music, if those who do so are continuously erased from our cultural history.
Written and narrated by award-nominated musician Carla J Easton, this is a powerful, global story told through a local lens.
Free, but ticketed. Please book here.
Please note, this film is rated 15 by the BBFC.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
