The sedimentary rocks which underlie much of Glasgow have played an integral role in the industrial development of the city, providing important natural resources such as coal, limestone, sandstone and ironstone. Discover what our local geology can tell us about Glasgow's past, back when Scotland lay at tropical equatorial latitudes over 300 million years ago.
